International gold medal for Girsberger in the 2019 EcoVadis ratings for corporate social responsibility

Corporate responsibility – now generally referred to as corporate social responsibility (CSR) – stands for social and environmentally responsible actions by companies based on the principle of sustainable and future-oriented business. This includes a wide range of measures and management systems as well as their effects on the environment, adherence to labour and human rights, ethics and the practice of sustainable sourcing.
In July 2019, Girsberger was awarded a gold medal by rating organization EcoVadis, scoring
65 out of a possible 100 points overall. (A total score of between 62 and 100 points is required for this top award). Girsberger therefore sits in the top 5% for its overall score, in the top 4% for environment, and in the top 3% with regard to sustainable sourcing out of all of the global companies in the furniture-producing sector certified by EcoVadis.
EcoVadis provides companies with comprehensive corporate responsibility ratings through a global, cloud-based SaaS platform. The evidence-based ratings are translated into easy-to-read scorecards with point scores from zero to one hundred (0-100) and medals (bronze, silver and gold). Furthermore, the scorecards highlight strengths and areas for improvement, which the companies assessed can use to focus their sustainability efforts more effectively and create corrective action plans to improve their CSR rating. The company under assessment can also see how they compare to the rest of the industry.
The management at Girsberger considers the result very pleasing and a useful and targeted stimulus for highlighting certain areas in more detail and continuing to improve. For Girsberger, the award represents another special milestone in sustainability management.
