Offices combine function with elegant design in classical spaces
In 2019 ICBC, currently the world’s largest bank, opened its first branch office in Austria. This branch will serve as the head office for the bank’s activities in Austria and the CEE countries. As a corporate bank, the office will constitute the bridgehead between Austria/CEE and China for all banking operations. Moreover, it will also focus on the financing of infrastructure projects
The bank rented highly prestigious premises in a typical Gründerzeit style mansion in the centre of Vienna. One particular challenge in terms of planning was to strike a balance between the highly imposing classical spaces and modern working requirements, as well as the desire for modern facilities and design.
Given these conflicting needs, the Girsberger planning office selected seating and tables which would meet not only the functional requirements but also those pertaining to form and design.
