Incycle – giving foam a second life

Large quantities of mattresses are disposed of in Europe every year, and most of them end up being incinerated. The Belgian company Federal Eco Foam has established an industrial process that involves recycling used foam mattresses and other foam products, thereby making a major contribution to waste prevention and resource conservation in Europe.

Incycle upholstery elements are made from this recycled foam. Let us guide you through the process of recycling and reuse.

Collection of used material

Old mattresses and other post-consumer polyurethane foams are collected, pressed into bales and delivered to the production facility.

Shredding

The foam elements are shredded and sorted into particle groups, which are then carefully cleaned, resulting in 100 % aseptic raw materials.

Production

The particle groups are weighed for density. Once the desired density has been reached, the particles are mixed and dispersed, combined with binder and additives and finally compacted into a foam block structure.

Processing

After being dried and hardened, the blocks can be left in their raw state or cut cleanly to a specific length and width.
