B & R Automation, Eggelsberg, Austria

B & R Automation has built a global innovation and training campus at its headquarters, adding to the complex of buildings that has grown over time. As part of the ABB Group, the company is a global centre for machine and factory automation.

Some 2,400 employees work on 100,000 m² here, and the new campus has created around 1,000 additional high-tech jobs for cutting-edge international research, as well as training facilities. This open innovation hub has created a unique centre for production, research and training in central Europe, where there is direct collaboration with international customers, companies and start-ups from across the region on technologies for factories of the future.

Numerous training, academy and meeting rooms have been created around a central break area in the two-storey building section that is accessible to external users, customers and course participants.
The research & development working environments are spread over a total of six levels. In the central zones of these levels, internal meeting and communication zones are threaded between laboratory areas, surrounded by open-space workstations. Focus boxes integrated into spaces enable concentrated individual work, while coffee & talk zones with open areas provide space for informal chats.

The Barra Work tables with solid wood tabletops in oak and multimedia boxes were used in the meeting areas. The Yanos swivel chairs and Connexion cantilever chairs were used in the training rooms and workspaces.
