A new look for time-proven classic seating

Once an abbey, now an arts centre: a complete renovation of the event and concert rooms also included an overhaul of the seating. Girsberger Remanufacturing refurbished and delivered 490 of the well-known classic 3107 model by Fritz Hansen in four stages. Having been used since the mid-1980s, the chairs were showing clear signs of wear and tear. Since the metal frames and wooden shells were in excellent condition, it was more sustainable and cheaper to refurbish the chairs than to replace them.

The old upholstery, which showed signs of heavy damage, partly from stacking, was removed, and the foam padding and covering fabrics were disposed of properly. The new robust upholstery was designed with durable and high-quality upholstery foam and covered with anthracite grey fabric. This understated colour harmonizes with the stone floors in the rooms used for meetings, celebrations and music events. To allow professional stacking, special stacking protectors were manufactured to prevent unappealing frame marks in the future.

A total of 490 chairs were overhauled in four stages, the old upholstery was disposed of properly and new upholstery was developed. The chairs were fitted with durable, high-quality upholstery foam and new covers. Stacking protectors were also manufactured and fitted.
