Acoustic design with textile surfaces
As part of a comprehensive redesign, existing office space at Böblingen District Administration occupied by the IT and HR departments has benefited from extensive modernisation. The aim was to transform the traditional administrative structures with central corridor and single or double offices into an open, flexible and future-proof working environment. Girsberger was responsible for carrying out the extensive upholstery work on wall panelling, room dividers, focus boxes and loose seat cushions.

The new structures provide spaces that meet needs of all kinds when it comes to diversity in the working world, and cover a wide range of options for work and communication. In addition to open team zones, various meeting areas have been created – from semi-open alcoves for short meetings to closed conference rooms for focussed discussions.
One of the project’s key qualities is its acoustic design – extensive measures including efficient ceiling surfaces and generous fabric panelling have created a working atmosphere that sets a new standard in terms of interior design in administrative buildings. The quiet and well-balanced acoustics aid concentration and promote focussed work, while also allowing for open communication.
Girsberger produced the wall panelling, room dividers, focus boxes and loose seat cushions, using more than 400 metres of fabric and 448 m² of wadding.
Working with these fabrics called for the utmost precision, especially when it came to ensuring even tension for the wall panelling backed with acoustic foam. The resulting overall appearance is a harmonious one, despite the different segment sizes used. Stain protection was used for the benches, and anti-slip coating for the loose seat cushions.
