Girsberger press release: Universal chair Nava in pastels

Universal chair Nava: Mix and match in pastels

A fresh update for the popular Nava chair family – the skid frames and seat shells are now available in a selection of new pastel shades. Expanding the existing range, these colour options offer even more creative possibilities for configuring frames, seat shells and upholstery in harmonious or contrasting combinations.

Colourful seat shells with a sustainable core

Three harmonious pastel colours have been added to the existing light grey seat shell made from post-consumer recycled material: Clay Red, Aragonite Blue and Pear Green. A glass fibre component is added to the recycled material to ensure the necessary stability.

Versatile upholstery options

Seat upholstery only, fully upholstered (linear or contoured), or no upholstery – solutions are available for all types of use and all comfort requirements. These new colour additions make the Nava chair even more flexible and customisable, an ideal multi-purpose chair as the perfect match for every interior.

From packaging waste to seat shell with PreZero-Certificate

The process begins where plastic waste is generated by packaging – in private households and businesses. And this is where the waste is collected, and picked up by disposal companies. The waste is taken to PreZero’s state-of-the-art, fully automated sorting facilities, where it is shredded in multi-stage processes and separated into pure plastic types. For the Nava seat shells, polypropylene waste is sorted and processed into a versatile virgin-quality recompound that is – depending on the colour – nearly up to 100% recycled. An additional fibreglass is added to the recycled material to give the seat shell the required stiffness.

About the Designer: Tom Deacon

After graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in architecture, Tom Deacon soon decided to work as a furniture and product designer. In 1984, the Canadian founded AREA Design and subsequently an independent studio in 1990. The design he favours is rather ‘quiet’ and he feels most inspired by folk art objects and products by anonymous designers, such as Shaker furniture. After a break as an artist, during which he worked on sculpture, land art and garden design from 2001 to 2012, he returned to product design in 2012.
